AI lead qualification for your website, chat and phone
Most visitors will not fill in a form, but many will answer a question. An assistant that asks the right few questions in a conversation can turn interest into a lead your team can act on, at any hour.
What AI lead qualification is
Lead qualification is finding out whether someone who has shown interest is someone your team should follow up with, and what they need. Traditionally that meant a form, or a salesperson on a call. AI lead qualification does the first part in a conversation: it greets the visitor, answers their questions, asks a few of its own, and saves what it learns as a lead.
It works on your website chat, and it can work on the other channels your customers use, such as text, WhatsApp and phone calls. The same idea applies on each: be helpful first, collect the details that matter, and pass the person to your team with everything already written down.
Why a conversation can beat a form
A form asks for everything up front and gives nothing back. A conversation gives the visitor an answer first, and asks for details when they make sense. Someone who just got a clear answer about pricing is far more willing to say what they are trying to do and leave an email.
A conversation also adapts. If the visitor mentions they run a clinic, the assistant can ask about appointments, not shipping. And it works at midnight, on a Sunday, when no one is around to take the enquiry.
The few questions worth asking
Qualification works best with short, natural questions, asked one at a time. Too many and the visitor leaves. Decide what your team really needs to follow up well, and ask for only that.
- Who they are and how to reach them: name, and an email or phone number.
- What they want: the problem they are trying to solve, in their own words.
- How big it is: team size, volume, or budget, if you need it to route the lead.
- When they need it: a rough timeline tells your team how urgent the follow-up is.
How LiyaSupport captures leads
LiyaSupport has two ways to do it, and they suit different jobs. The first is built in and needs no setup. The assistant can save a person as a lead whenever they ask for a quote, a callback or a follow-up, or clearly want to buy or book. It records their name, how to reach them, what they want, and anything else they mention. It is on by default for chat, text and WhatsApp, and for phone calls, and you can switch it off for any channel. It is not used for support problems or questions the assistant can answer itself.
The second is a guided form for a specific kind of request, such as a quote or an estimate. You define the fields you need, for example name, phone, what they need built, and budget. The assistant then interviews the visitor, asking for each missing detail in turn and recording the answers as it goes. When everything required is in, the lead is marked ready for pricing.
If a visitor types their phone number or email in a chat, it is kept on the lead even though it is hidden from the AI model, so your team gets a number they can really call.
What happens after the lead is saved
Leads appear in one place, with the details the assistant collected, the channel they came from, and the conversation behind them. Your team moves each lead through stages from new to contacted, qualified, quote sent, and won or lost, assigns an owner, and sets a follow-up date.
An agent can ask for a drafted follow-up email written from the conversation, then edit it and send it. The assistant also avoids duplicates: a second enquiry from the same person within a short time is added to the existing lead, not saved as a new one.
Keeping it honest and useful
Tell the assistant what it may promise. A good setup says only that a team member will follow up, and only after the lead is really saved, never a price or a date it cannot guarantee. Keep the questions few, and let people leave at any point without being pushed.
Review the leads it captures each week. Where the details are thin, adjust the questions or the knowledge, and where a lead should not have been created, tighten when the assistant may create one.
Common questions
Is a chat assistant better than a contact form?
They do different jobs. A form is quick for someone who already knows what they want. A conversation helps visitors who are still deciding, because they get an answer first and are asked questions that fit what they said. Many sites use both.
How many questions should the assistant ask?
As few as your team needs to follow up well, usually name, a way to reach them, what they want, and sometimes size or timing. Every extra question costs you some visitors.
Does it work outside business hours?
Yes. The assistant answers and collects details at any hour, and the lead is waiting for your team when they start work.
Can it qualify leads on the phone and by text too?
Yes. The built-in lead capture is on by default for chat, text, WhatsApp and phone calls, and you can turn it off for any channel in your tools.
What does my team see?
A lead with the person's name and contact details, what they asked for, the channel, and the conversation. You can move it through stages, assign it, set a follow-up date and draft a follow-up email.
Will it connect to my CRM?
LiyaSupport keeps leads in its own Leads view. If you want them in another system, you can connect it with an action or workflow, and our team can advise on the setup.
